This trip happened because of peer pressure…but I’m glad it did. The only other U.A.E. city I had ever been to was Dubai and that was at the sprite age of six. I went with a colleague from work and visited another former colleague and her boyfriend so fortunately I had a local to show me the ropes. The short of it is that Abu Dhabi is like any US city, just with more Arabic writing. The diversity and accessibility to recreational activities, were astonishing. I especially enjoyed the beachfront buffets and the incredibly authentic Thai Restaurant I went to.
From serene oceansides, delicious shwarmas, social gatherings on the rooftop of the Glo Rooftop lounge and a fun trip to the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque, Abu Dhabi didn’t disappoint. Sometimes, weekend trips are the best.
